You’ve been let down

Did you know that right now, it’s possible for you to command a premium salary of at least $200k/year while you live a life of zen-like work-life balance? 🤯

I know this may seem impossible — and I’ll explain how to make it possible in just a second.

But first, let’s talk about why so many people think this is not only impossible — but unreasonable, even delusional.

The truth is that you’ve been LET DOWN. 😖

Let down by so many well-meaning humans — like your colleagues, your boss, career and leadership “experts….”

…who want you to believe that solving problems is the key to advancing in your tech career.

And on the surface, I get it. It sounds good!

As a tech manager, you’ve been successful so far because you solve problems for a living!

You solve problems that other people don’t understand in ways that make their heads spin.

You’re a professional problem-solver! 👍

So to get to the next level in your career, you need to keep solving problems, right?

But let me just come right out and say it: This approach to career advancement is painfully short-sighted.

Here’s why:

If you keep focusing on solving problems, then what are you going to create? More problems! More unnecessary chaos for your team and for you.

And YOU’RE going to be the one to fix all of those problems. You’re going to end up in the weeds way too much. And that’s the worst place for a leader to be.

Also, problems are external to you. Network crashes, broken websites, angry customers.

Yes, they need to be addressed. I’m not saying to stick your head in the sand and ignore them.

But…

Here’s the biggest reason of all that continuing to solve everyone else’s problems is a terrible way to advance in your career:

You end up focusing 100% on the EXTERNAL.

And that’s an absolute tragedy because you’re ignoring the ONE thing that matters the most in upgrading your career and adding tremendous value as a badass tech leader.

What’s that ONE thing?

YOU! ❗️❗️❗️❗️

Focusing on the external causes you to ignore the internal.

Your power. Your confidence. Your beliefs. Your identity.

So if focusing on external problems is the old terrible way to build your dream career…what’s the new and ENLIGHTENED way?

Simple: Focus on You. 👏

Here’s why this is BRILLIANT:

By focusing on you and creating the best set of beliefs and values and principles you possibly can, then what are you going to create?

MORE of those fabulous beliefs, values, and principles!

You’ll create more authenticity, integrity, assertiveness, wisdom, power, humility…

AND the positive ripple effect on the EXTERNAL world will be undeniable.

Your team will start to show up that way too. You’ll win even more. The customers you serve will be jumping for joy.

And you’ll receive the rewards for this that you truly deserve — that raise, that promotion, that new next-level job.

And the best part is you’re going to be doing this full of fun and flow and purpose and meaning…

…and that’s what’s going to enable you to achieve amazing career success without sacrificing one ounce of your authenticity or integrity.

Do you see how powerful that is?

Here’s the thing, though: no one else is teaching this. And the ones that are, don’t really understand it.

I’d love to talk to you about how you can use this idea to land that raise, promotion, or new next-level job in the next few months or less.
