The Tech Leadership Struggle is Real.

Here’s How the Top 1% Embrace it and Earn at Least $200-$300k/year -

Have you ever thought to yourself, “I have no idea what I’m doing as a manager”…

You go to bed and stare at the ceiling. “Am I slowly disappearing into irrelevance?”

You wake up the next morning (after not-so-restful sleep) and do it all over again. Back on the hamster wheel of leadership mediocrity.

If you feel like this, you’re not alone. Every time I scroll through my LinkedIn feed (or occasionally, if I’m feeling feisty, my Twitter feed), I see managers asking questions about being better leaders and well-meaning “experts” offering tips, tricks, and solutions.

It’s enough to make you want to pull your hair out and ask, “Does anybody REALLY know the best strategies for being an effective tech leader?!”

And you go on a search for answers…

You spend late nights googling things like, “how to be a good manager” or “how to run a team meeting” or “how to delegate well”…

You bought (virtual) carts of leadership books on Amazon, desperate to avoid beginner manager mistakes (even if you’ve been managing for years)…

You ask all of your colleagues and you’re really scared to find out that you seem to know more than them about leadership…

But yet, you’re still struggling.

You’re not getting recognized for the seemingly smart work that you’re doing every weekday (and, yes, weekends too).

You go from meeting to meeting scratching your head, “Is THIS what being a leader is? Going to meetings all day?”

And at the end of the day you ask yourself, “What did I accomplish today? What measurable value did I add to my team?”

And, as much as it pains you, the answer is: Nothing.

Every day. Nothing.

And this begins to weigh on you. I’ve done nothing.

You come home mentally zapped because your confidence (or what’s left of it) is waning. You don’t have the energy to lift a fork — let alone a book or a game controller.

Reading and playing video games used to bring you joy, but now you wonder, “What’s the use?”

And anyway, you have some Slack messages to respond to…

Here’s the bottom line: If you don’t fix your career soon, you’re going to end up broke, stressed out, and demoralized.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. While most tech managers are struggling in their careers, a small handful of smart technical leaders are quietly earning $200k+/year while they build thriving teams and build a legacy they’re insanely proud of.

They wake up every morning with a profound sense of purpose.

They have the systems and strategies to overcome any leadership challenge. They embrace the struggle and use it to build grit, strength, and confidence. This fuels them to finally get recognized for their efforts and they earn more freedom! And so does their team!

They have time to pursue their hobbies. They have time to learn, to grow, to prosper.

And they go to bed every night with a smile on their faces and gratitude in their hearts.
